INGREDIENTS AND MEASUREMENTS
These ingredients contain tbs production of Kunu using millet.
1.) 3 cups of millet
2.) 1 medium-sized potato
3.) 2 rhizome of ginger
4.) 1 tbsp. of cloves
5.) Sugar to taste
6.) Water
Others: Dry Pepper, Iyun, Kanafuru, Iyere. (Note: Some of these are written in Yoruba cos we couldn't get the English name.)π.
DIRECTIONS
- Clean millet grain from pointless elements such as stones
Pour water into a bowl. Add your millets, if any stone is left, they will remain at the bottom of the bowl. Pour the millets with water carefully to another bowl, leaving residues on the bottom.
Leave the millet inside a bowl with chill water overnight.
Note: This is the hardest stage as the stones might be the same size as the millet. You need to clean it well.
- Chop the cloves, ginger and sweet potato and set aside
- Put the soaked millets, chopped ginger, sweet potato and cloves into a blender. Blend it together till it turns to a fine paste.
- Blend the ingredient smoothly, divide the fine paste into two equal parts.
- Boil about 200ml of water, add it to one of the separated paste. Stir continuously then let it chill for some time.
- Now take the second part of the separated paste, add little water and make sure it is a little bit watery. Stir thoroughly and leave overnight.
When it is morning, take the two separated paste.
- Sieve both in a bowl and add your sugar to your taste.
- Your kunu drink is ready, it is best to serve the drink chilled, so make sure you keep your drink in the fridge before drinking it.
